🇭🇰 Hong Kong = Crypto Ding Dong … Bitcoin Ordinals Sees 2,834% Increase in 3 Months … And Is This What Terminator Warned Us About? … 🤖

What’s up Web3-ers.

In today’s issue, we’re diving into:

  • Hong Kong goes “Crypto Crazy” by pushing out blockchain-boosting policies, and pledging to certify 300,000+ Web3-savvy traders.

  • Outstanding Ordinals … How one specific type of NFT saw a 2,834% increase between Q1 and Q2.

  • Want a job in AI? You’re in luck, as AI job searches increased 853% in the last year.

  • The “C-word” … And how leveraging this can help you stand out in a Web3 world.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLE LESSONS #106

Each week we decode one of the key Web3 principles giving you the inside track on what makes a successful Web3 strategy.

This week’s principle… Community

Picture this: you've got a watch brand that’s your go-to without question, right? You chase the latest product releases, register for early bird access, go to their events and even queue for 2hrs at their doors… (sometimes). Why is this?

A community of fans and followers has been built by the brand over many years. It's like a tight-knit group that's always buzzing with excitement and anticipation. However, community is one of many areas that makes up a successful brand marketing strategy.

Community in Web3

In Web3, community and culture are EVERYTHING.

Take for example, the recent Azuki launch. Azuki is a bluechip NFT that cultivated a tight-knit community that was so strong, when they launched an NFT collection, all 10,000 digital assets were purchased by members of the community in just 15 minutes … raking in a whopping $38 Million. And there were STILL Azuki holders disappointed that they missed out buying more.

You see, the beauty of community lies in the power of connection and loyalty. When people feel like they belong, like they're part of something bigger, magic happens.

Now, on with the main event …

ROSTER ROUNDUP

Each week we like to give you an insider track into what’s going on behind the scenes at Roster HQ…

  1. It’s here…! It’s film week, where we take the countless days of meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering dedication that’s been poured into each module by our incredible presenters and the Roster crew, and capture it all in a studio for you. Stay tuned for an unforgettable learning experience!

  2. Community is huge in Web3 right? (as you’ve just learnt from our lesson). So we’ve been beavering away to find a new presenter to join the Roster, to teach the world the right way to build successful brand communities in Web3. Names TBC 🤐

  3. BIG shout out to our learning technology partner Suada. We’ve been there with them from the beginning as the first lines on code were laid down. Today, we’re seeing them prepare to launch into the Middle East, working with the largest real estate firm in the UK, and making HUGE waves in the sport and fitness sector too. We’re proud and excited to launch our course with them 🙌

(Note: If you’re as eager for the Web3 Mini MBA launch as we are -- and why wouldn’t you be? -- you can get advanced notifications and updates here.)

HONG KONG = CRYPTO DING DONG

Hong Kong's largest financial training organisation, The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI), plans to introduce a training program for aspiring virtual asset traders.

Here at Roster, we’re big fans of how they’re doing things in Hong Kong, and their constant push for new Crypto incentives is music to our ears … Especially given how US regulatory bodies have been reacting to Crypto recently.

How the SEC are treating Crypto initiatives right now.

The course is designed to teach traders about digital assets and how to leverage both digital and traditional finance. With over 300,000 traders expected to gain access on launch, it’s yet another positive move, not just for Web3 in Hong Kong, but the world over.

BITCOIN ORDINALS SEES 2,834% INCREASE IN 3 MONTHS

A 2,834% increase sounds impressive, right?

But what are Bitcoin ordinals? Well, they’re basically NFT’s built on Bitcoin rather than Ethereum or Solana. (If you want to see some examples, check out Magic Eden.)

Between Q2 and Q3 though, trading volume of Bitcoin Ordinals surged to $210 million, which is a 2,834% increase. TL:DR - This is exciting.

Not just that, but the trading volume of Bitcoin on exchanges surpassed $4.2 trillion in the first half of 2023. And seeing as Ordinals represent just a fraction of this, the prospects for even more exponential future growth are strong.

IS THIS WHAT TERMINATOR WARNED US ABOUT?

If you’ve been worried about robots coming for you job … Don’t be. (At least not yet.)

Because while it’s clear some professions will soon be made obsolete due to AI, actually, this change in workplace culture and tech represents a massive opportunity. And emerging data backs this up …

Job searches for Crypto-based roles recently saw a 1,457% increase, and AI-related job searches also saw a substantial rise, growing by 853% during the same period. Among these, the most popular roles were for data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI researchers, along with blockchain developer roles.

Given the mainstream’s (welcome) adoption of ChatGPT, AI jobs are now 4x more commonly searched than crypto jobs. The potential here is really exciting. In fact, robots aren’t stealing our jobs … They’re likely going to help us get better jobs, bigger pay packets, and potentially make our working lives a whole lot easier.

Have that T-800.

☎️ READER REQUESTS

Every week we pick one lucky reader’s question, and give you a full rundown here. Today’s request comes from Jack who wants to know…

What Areas & Industries Does Web3 Play A Part In?

Without sounding too much like Web3 fanboys, the real answer is - EVERY area and EVERY industry.

Unlike most technological advances, which are industry-specific, Web3 is about ownership and decentralisation, meaning the confines on its use are few and far between. But we don’t like vague answers here at Roster, so let’s dive a little deeper …

The main areas we’re seeing large scale adoption of Web3 are -

- Supply chain management (De Beers Diamond Mining)
- Fashion (Gucci, Prada, Nike, Adidas)
- Membership based businesses (Starbucks, Binance, Fanverse)
- Gaming (Ubisoft, Square Enix and Epic Games)

However, that’s far from an exhaustive list, and it’s only going to keep growing. So watch this space for even more industries and areas getting involved in the Web3 world.

THAT’S A RITELIST (W)RAP …

We always love hearing from our readers …
