What’s up Web3-ers.

In today’s issue, we’re diving into:

  • Can Crypto profit from garbage? One groundbreaking firm says “Yes … It can!”

  • The SANGO Project: How the CAR plans to appeal to global investors through an exciting drive into Web3.

  • The super secret sleuth who’s just become the brand new whale in the crypto space … But does anybody know who they are?

  • Want to fail FAST in a Web3 world? Then you’ll want to avoid this crucial piece of the networking puzzle.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLE LESSONS #112

Each week we decode one of the key Web3 principles giving you the inside track on what makes a successful Web3 strategy.

This week’s principle… Community

(No, not the highly underrated Netflix show starring Chevy Chase … More so how fostering a REAL community can make your journey into Web3 a whole lot smoother.)

In Web2, the word “Community” was tossed around … A lot. And it didn’t have any real meaning. Companies would brag about their communities, and workplaces would speak about how they didn’t have employees, they had communities.

In reality, that didn’t mean much. But in Web3, community is a whole other ball game.

Community in Web3

With the governance structures available in Web3, along with eco-system tokens and smart contracts, users can ACTUALLY make an impact on the services they use by being part of a community.

We’ve already seen the power of community projects in terms of selling out NFT launches, and getting new businesses off the ground much faster than using traditional marketing methods. Add to that things like support services, troubleshooting and education, and there are numerous examples where Web3 communities can step up and help onboard new users to a product or service. So whatever you do, do NOT snooze on community.

Now, on with the main event …

DIRTY, FILTHY CRYPTO

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure … And that’s certainly the case for Crypto mining startup Nodal, as the firm has just raised $13 Million to build renewable energy plants at landfill sites.

The company’s goal is to reduce methane emissions from landfills (methane being 25 times more effective at trapping heat than CO2, which isn’t too fantastic for the environment!) by powering bitcoin mining centres with the gas.

Seeing as 56% of bitcoin is already mined sustainably, making it one of the most sustainably sourced industries, this could attract a whole wave of new investment. So even if you’re not exactly down with the green revolution yourself, there’s no doubt we could see a shift in investment patterns, as more eco-conscious individuals and companies put their cash into bitcoin.

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC READIES ITSELF FOR INVESTOR LOVE

Already a leading body in Crypto innovation, the Central African Republic (CAR) have strengthened their footing even further by expanding their Sango blockchain initiative.

They plan to begin tokenising assets such as land and mining rights for investors' acquisition, which should not only foster economic growth and infrastructure development, but also simplify the procedure of obtaining licenses in sectors like real estate, agriculture, natural resources exploitation, and forestry.

Add to that the increased transparency and efficiency in the CAR’s government and public services, AND the fact the tokenising of land and resources will attract investment, create economic opportunities, and promote growth, and this move gets a big double thumbs up from the whole Roster gang.

MYSTERIOUS MR. X POCKETS 3 BILLION IN BTC

A new whale has entered the Crypto world … And NO ONE knows who he (or she) is.

This super sleuth has acquired 118,000 BTC, worth $3.08 billion, in just 90 days, making it the third-largest Bitcoin holder, behind only Bitfinex (which holds 178,010 BTC) and Binance (248,5097 BTC.)

Theories are flying as to who this could be, with Blackrock leading the way, or maybe a newly orange pilled billionaire.

We took a poll in the office, and we reckon maybe it’s Ollie. He’s been away for a few days and told us it was man-flu, but if we catch him posting selfies from a yacht on Instagram, we might be asking questions.

☎️ READER REQUESTS

Every week we pick one lucky reader’s question, and give you a full rundown here. Today’s request comes from Gregg who wants to know…

How important is transparency in blockchain?”

Picture a library where transactions are showcased like books on shelves. Just as anyone can read these "books," the blockchain lets everyone see every transaction, building trust and allowing us to double-check things on our own.

And because we can all see every transaction, this means blockchain remains unaltered and tamper-proof. AKA: There’s nowhere for bad actors or any malicious activity to exist.

This is powerful. But to show you just how powerful, here’s an example:

When you donate to a charity, do you know with 100% certainty that the money has gone EXACTLY where you hoped it would? Probably not, right?

You’d like to think charities would do the right thing … But you just don’t know. On the blockchain though, there’s no way this can be hidden, so you can trace every single pound and penny, and sleep easy at night.
